Dearest Gentle Audience,
Prepare yourselves for an evening of irresistible charm, as a most enchanting Summer concert graces our company.
With sweeping strings and melodies steeped in romance, even the most composed among you may find your heart… delightfully unsettled.
Do mind your manners; though I suspect the music will make that quite impossible.
Yours truly,

Hidden Knowledge

Hidden Knowledge shines a spotlight on the folk traditions of Northern Europe; music too rarely heard on international stages, yet rich with colour, character, and centuries-old storytelling.
The Lār Quartet brings these pieces to life with delicate lyricism and spirited energy, tracing landscapes shaped by icy coastlines, midsummer dances, and intimate communal song.
From haunting modal melodies to rhythmic fiddle tunes, the program offers a vivid journey through under-represented musical voices, revealing the beauty and diversity found across the region’s folk heritage.

A Yule Celebration
As the year reaches its darkest point, inspired by solstice customs that honour the return of light, this concert weaves together Christmas melodies, ancient dances, yule time traditions and reimagined carols.
Blending the familiar warmth of Christmas with older, earth-centred traditions, this concert offers a reflective and atmospheric journey; connecting past and present in a shared celebration of renewal, light and community.

Crimson Skies
This programme brings together three composers rooted in classical form yet deeply shaped by the sounds and stories of folk tradition. With two works from England and one from Norway, the programme explores how composers have drawn from vernacular music to create chamber works of striking individuality and emotional depth.
Folk traditions often exist outside major cultural institutions; passed down orally, shaped by community life, and tied to specific landscapes and histories. When these traditions enter the classical repertoire, they carry with them echoes of fields, coastlines, mountains, and village gatherings. The result is music that feels both intimate and expansive.
